POKOTABI / Changumi
チャングミ
Located in Shibuya's Udagawacho, Changumi offers premium cuts like special beef tongue and short ribs alongside authentic Korean staples, from boiled pork bossam to simmering stews, suitable for daytime sets or lively evening gatherings.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Sizzling smoke rising from table grills and walls accented with Hangul menus welcome visitors to Changumi in Shibuya's Udagawacho. This laid-back eatery focuses on authentic Korean barbecue alongside homestyle Korean classics. The space features comfortable tables near the entrance and sunken tatami seating in the back, accommodating everything from a quick drink after work to lively group dinners.
An essential starter is the seasoned beef tongue or premium salted tongue, served with a generous mound of minced scallions. Quickly seared over the flame and wrapped around the savory scallions, each slice yields a tender bite with rich, juicy flavor. Marbled short ribs, tender skirt steak, and fragrant grilled pork belly samgyeopsal are equally reliable selections. Beyond grilled meats, the kitchen prepares boiled pork bossam served with signature sauce and leafy greens, along with hearty stews like soft tofu sundubu jjigae, army stew budae jjigae, and pork backbone gamjatang, all pairing naturally with chilled beer and makgeolli.
During the day, the restaurant serves value-oriented lunch sets, including hearty grilled short rib sets and bubbling sundubu sets. Accompanied by side dishes, namul, and soup, these midday meals offer solid nourishment while exploring Shibuya. Evenings frequently draw a full house, making advance bookings advisable for groups. With attentive, down-to-earth service, guests can enjoy sharing platters of grilled meat and steaming hot pots around the table.
